Course Description: Join us for an inspiring art class where creativity meets faith! Each student will receive a spiral bound book of blank pages. We will create artwork that illustrates a scripture or captures the beauty of God’s creation. Students can choose from the following options with each piece:

  • Complete the drawing/painting as a stand-alone piece. The book can become a portfolio of the year’s art or pages may be removed as separate designs.

  • Create a book of illustrated scripture and add a correlating Bible verse to each page.

  • Add a tiny hidden character in each piece of art and write a story about the adventures of the tiny critter on each page. Scripture verses may also be included with this option.

We will explore diverse mediums and techniques including paper marbling, tea-stained paper, neon gel pens, watercolor pencils, acrylic paint markers, white charcoal, markers, and watercolor crystals. Some  projects (i.e. paper marbling, white charcoal, watercolor crystals….) will be completed on separate paper and may be added to the book with adhesive. Each student will receive a set of gel pens to take home, ensuring the artistic journey continues beyond the classroom.

Most projects are demonstrated with a live camera or video to enable students to follow step by step if they choose. Alternate versions of each project are offered for students who choose to work independently.

Supplies Needed: Each student should bring pencils, a pen, a highlighter, and a 3-ring binder (dedicated to our service class) with horizontal pockets and lined loose-leaf paper. Occasionally, specific outreach items may be needed, depending on the project. Donating these items is always appreciated, but always optional.

Course Description: Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Building Teams, Serving the Lord is a class designed for middle and high school students eager to serve with purpose, grow as leaders, and develop teamwork skills. In this group, you’ll discover what it takes to become a close-knit, effective team that works together to serve the Lord and positively affect the world around you. Through engaging activities, multiple team-building exercises, and meaningful service projects, students will learn how to collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve as part of a team. Join us as we grow in faith, build meaningful friendships, and work together to make a difference!

Homework Expectations: Assignments will involve such things as reflecting on your experiences and preparing to share why you believe a specific cause should be the focus of the team. You will have time to work on assignments in class, but occasionally, you may need to finish them at home if it’s not completed or if you want to learn more and explore the topic further.

Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)  “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving .”

Housekeeping: Parents-There will be additional time spent outside the regular 55-minute class period at Master’s Hand for service-related activities. This could include extra time after class working on projects like preparing Thanksgiving dinner baskets or participating in service opportunities at locations such as the Humane Society or a soup kitchen, which may take place on a different day of the week.

As the program progresses, we will have a clearer idea of how many service projects we will participate in, but I anticipate an average of 1-2 projects per semester unless students choose to focus on one cause.

Parents will need to transport their children to outreach locations. If you are willing to help with carpooling, please let me know, and we will work to coordinate when feasible.

Although student and parent participation outside of class is strongly encouraged to enhance the benefits of the course, it is not mandatory. Thank you for your support!

Tuition:  $30.00

Payment Options: Check, Venmo (@Jamie_Kuntz)

Supplies Needed: Notebook and pen/pencil (this notebook is for general notes or having paper for activities, so this notebook does not need to be designated specifically for this class)

Course Description: In this course, we will learn basic conversational vocabulary and skills in a variety of topics.

Topics/Subjects include (but are not limited to):

  • How to introduce yourself

  • Numbers: counting, ages, ordinal numbers, money signs, etc.

  • Colors, foods, & animals

  • Describing & discussing self and others (people & family)

  • Describing & discussing activities (sports, school subjects, etc.)

Homework Expectations: Intermittent handouts, activities, or online videos for review and practice during the week. These will not be required but will be very beneficial for language acquisition as it is difficult to learn a language when only using/exposed to it once a week.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE 13+

Teacher: Jamie Kuntz

Prerequisites:  None

Ages: 13+

Class size:  3-10

Materials Fees: *TBD – there will be at least a $25.00 (one-time fee) for copies, learning materials, handouts, etc., then there may also be a required book. I may choose to own a book myself and simply copy excerpts to read as homework. If I make copies, I will increase the materials fee. If I select a book, students will be required to purchase the book as it will be used for the entirety of the school year.*

Tuition:  $30.00

Payment Options: Check, Venmo (@Jamie_Kuntz)

Supplies Needed: Notebook and pen/pencil (this notebook is for general notes or having paper for activities, so this notebook does not need to be designated specifically for this class). *Book purchase possibly required*

Course Description: In this course, we will learn basic conversational vocabulary and skills in a variety of topics. We will also explore some basics of Deaf culture as culture is the foundation of language. This course will include reading assignments to be completed at home with “discussion days” in class. With in class time and homework assignments, this course will be worth 0.5 credits. Students who wish to earn more than 0.5 credits can complete more in-depth homework assignments (writing/discussion and watch assigned online videos).

Topics/Subjects include (but are not limited to):

  • How to introduce yourself

  • Numbers: counting, ages, ordinal numbers, money signs, etc.

  • Colors, foods, & animals

  • Describing & discussing self and others (people & family)

  • Describing & discussing activities (sports, school subjects, etc.)

Homework Expectations: Approximately 1 hour of homework per week: required assignments will be a mixture of reading, writing, and reviewing online resources. *Specifics TBD* – I am researching books to use as the cultural learning portion of this course and will list the specific book once I have chosen which to use. Language and culture are inextricable. Learning about the Deaf culture is essential for acquiring usable ASL skills. Reading will be assigned as homework, and we will discuss the readings in class periodically (discussion days). Since language cannot be learned in isolation, I will prioritize class time for practicing active language skills. Thus, there may be simple writing assignments to support comprehension of the reading material (e.g. writing a brief summary of the week’s reading, answering simple questions about the week’s reading, etc.) and to facilitate some “discussion” outside of class time. I will also share online resources for review at home.

Course Description: Step back in time and uncover the fascinating connection between history, archaeology, and the Bible! Biblical Archaeology explores the ancient cultures, artifacts, and historical sites that illuminate the events and stories of Scripture. Through hands-on projects, map studies, a YouTube video series and other videos, and analysis of archaeological discoveries, students will investigate how the physical evidence of the past supports the Bible’s historical record. This course will connect faith with the evidence of the past. Dive into topics such as the ruins of ancient Jerusalem, the lives of key Egyptian pharaohs, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the cities of Paul’s missionary journeys, and the mysteries of lost civilizations such as the Babylonians, and Hittites. Learn how archaeologists work, explore the significance of key artifacts, and discuss the intersections of faith, history, and science.

  • Unwrapping the Pharaohs – Examines the rulers of Egypt, their connection to biblical events, and a revised chronology that aligns Egyptian history with Scripture. Features studies on Tutankhamen, Hatshepsut, and the Pharaoh of the Exodus, along with an exploration of pyramids and tombs.

Course Description: Who’s ready for P.E.? “Everyone in your spots!” Every child should be building a foundation of an active, healthy life; one that glorifies God with the gift of their bodies. All physical education classes are designed to develop strength, balance, flexibility, an coordination through fun warm-up routines, games, and stretching. Then, each quarter two or three organized games or sports will be taught.

Soccer, kickball, volleyball, team handball, ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee/disc golf, golf swing, flag football, basketball, jump roping, circusing, beanbags, driveway games, badminton, cup stacking, and more are taught. Specific skills will be broken down and games and fun drills will be played to put these skills into action. One game or sport will be taught each quarter that is great for home play so that the student can organize and participate at home with family or friends. Please consider that each unit is taught over three years with emphasis given to one phase. Year One: basic skills. Year Two: team and individual strategy. Year Three: drills and play.

P.E. should be taught from a Biblical worldview too! You do not get that from Rec programs, Apex, or the local fitness or gymnastics center. PE classes provide many ways to teach Biblica principles as well as challenge the students to go beyond their comfort zones. Part of physically educating them is teaching them about the amazing ways God has designed our bodies to perform physically.

The 13+ class includes fitness curriculum from In the Core Sports Performance. This not only teaches them proper form and movement mechanics but also teaches them how to work out on their own!

SCIENCE XTREME

Teacher: Aaron Vogel

Ages : 9-12

Class size: 10+

Tuition: $30.00

Materials fee: $45.00 (fee includes materials for labs and experiments). Occasionally, students will

need to bring a household item for a lab, like an empty plastic bottle.

Payment Options: Checks

Course Description: Some common and some not so common science labs, stem projects and other science challenges will be taken to the extreme in head-to-head group competitions. I will be taking regular science labs to the extreme by changing and adding additional challenges to the parameters of the lab or experiment. They will have to use the scientific principles that are first taught at the beginning of each challenge and brain storm with those they are partnered with to figure out and overcome the extreme twists thrown at them. These special twists will come in the form of what types of materials they use to build, limitations they must deal with, how they will gain points in competition to the other teams, and how they will overcome ‘road blocks’ that are suddenly added to the challenge. This will be fun, and friendly

and full of scientific discovery. And of course, science should be seen and learned through a Biblical worldview. Opening the students mind to how great a creator our God is!

BIOLOGY

Teacher: Aaron Vogel

Class size: Minimum 10 students

Materials fee: $50.00 (Fee includes materials for dissections and other experiments. Students are responsible for purchasing their own textbook and tests).

Tuition: $45.00 (Please note that class starts at 8:15AM)

Payment Options: Checks

Course Description: Through laboratory experiments, fun projects, observations, and dissections we will work our way through the general biology curriculum. Apologia is required, although all biology texts cover the same subjects, and the labs are quite similar. The most important part is learning how God created life to live, thrive, and survive in its environment and how we as God’s ultimate creation can learn from, stand for and intelligently defend God’s order and truth found in scripture. This will be my focus, so they see value in learning something like photosynthesis or aerobic respiration. The first 5 minutes I will challenge them in their faith and walk with Christ with a short devotional thought or Bible passage. The next 15-30 minutes will be used to teach, discuss, and prepare for the next hour of application.

Homework Expectations: There will be mandatory homework every week. Reading and studying the module before the lab is required. Additional projects will be assigned like an animal behavior project, and short genetics and ecology papers. Optional worksheets and activities will be sent home to help ‘fill in the gaps’.

Go to apologia.com for a unit example and please consider purchasing your text through Probasco’s Christian Book Store in Loveland.
