Jamie has a BS degree in Special Education: Educational Interpreting from the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville, and over seven years of active community and educational interpreting experience, including intern training and mentorship, in Knoxville, TN where there is a large and active Deaf community. She was homeschooled K-12 in East Tennessee by her parents who are still active in the homeschooling community there. Now, her two young children are second-generation homeschoolers. Jamie grew up dancing and performing Israeli Folk Dancing (and other international folk dances) and is currently a performing dancer with a ballet company and a swing dancing company in Greeley, CO. Dancing and ASL both require physical and spatial awareness and control, and they both communicate through physical movement.
