Julie Deener
Julie is an educator passionate about providing meaningful opportunities for students to serve. Her experience as a teacher, principal, teacher trainer, and adjunct professor, along with homeschooling her 11-year-old son has deepened her commitment to this mission. She is excited to offer students at Master’s Hand an opportunity to live out their faith in service to others. Her goal is to help students grow into compassionate, thoughtful individuals who understand the power of helping others with empathy and the love of Christ in all they do. Her journey into serving others began with Help Change Hunger (H.C.H.), a program she co-founded with her middle school students. Together, they raised money, planned and prepared meals, and served up to 80 individuals every Saturday in a low-income area of Saginaw, Michigan for over five years. This program earned the J.C. Penny Golden Rule Award and allowed Julie and her students to speak at the National Service-Learning Conference in San Jose, California. Julie has had the privilege of serving in missions with YWAM in Lithuania, Sweden, Mexico, and Romania, experiences that deepened her passion for helping others and share God’s love. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and backcountry camping with her outdoorsman husband, Brad, and adventurous son, Joshua! She feels that if students grasp even a small part of God’s love and purpose for them, she will consider the year a blessed and fruitful one.
